I wouldn't necessarily call that a family movie. Let's a gather round the TV and watch over 1,000 people die in a disaster, let alone the sex scene. I'm confused by this decision.

It's one thing to show it on a family-oriented network. As long as they aren't playing it on a family-oriented cruise. Or any cruise for that matter.

Some paranoid kids running around
"We're going to hit an iceburg, I DON'T WANT TO DIE *Bawls*"

Let's get this straight, Titanic is really just a sappy love story that is set on the Titanic. It's not like they're showing Total Recall, the best love story of all time.

I still don't think it's a family movie. A ship breaking in half and over 1,000 people dying isn't very family oriented in my eyes.

Try watching it with your 50 year old aunt and uncle in the theater. Worst movie ever.

eh, I watched it at the cinema with my family when I was 11 and aaall of my teachers were there.
I remember it got a bit awkward when Kate Winslet got undressed but other than that I think it was okay.

Courtesy of Disney I guess... from wiki:
"...the channel had even aired some acquired series and movies that contain profanity, violence and sexual content or dialogue after the sale to News Corporation, only running them somewhat more so since being purchased by The Walt Disney Company. ABC Family does air parental advisory tags at the beginning of some TV-14 rated programs, such as That '70s Show and some episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager , Pretty Little Liars , Twisted and The Fosters ."

It's not the most family friendly movie, it's a chick flick.

yeah, I think 'family friendly' is a loaded term anyway. It really depends on the family. Some kids might get a bit out of shape over it. Doesn't ABC Family have "That 70's show" too?

Yeah, personally it's not as bad as people think it is. Oooh some "drug use" is mentioned, same with basically every other show on TV.

Worse decisions have been made. This is on the learning channel.
The fact that it's on any channel is tragic.

"The Learning Channel" I've learned more on Top Gear about things then I've learned on that channel. Also KILL IT WITH FIRE

I saw many women crying at the end of the Titanic movie, not because the Titanic sank and over 1200 people lost their lives, but only because stupid Leonardo Dicaprio died,

But what's worse is that some still believe that the sinking of the Titanic was a fictional tale.

Some people say the moon landing was fake. Neither are fake.

That's not what the movie is about though. Tragic, yes but the movie is about Jack and Rose. And to a lesser degree defying class boundaries.
As far as the ship sinking with regard to a plot device, I don't so how it's any worse than every other disaster movie out there. It's not like it was this huge mass murdur, it was an accident.

I've watched it for a few minutes a few times (I can't take too much as my brain will explode) and each time I have to prise myself away from the train-wreck of a tv programme thinking, how, why, what, etc... I mean what do they put in the water for these people to be so dumb. Is their school system merely an attendance policy, 'show up for seven hours a day, you needn't learn anything as long as you attend for those hours the world will class you as educated'. Dear god.

There are too many people who see films as documentaries and real life fact so when they see a film about Armageddon they start building bunkers and hoarding food and weapons so they can live through it and repopulate the world. I certainly hope if it ever does happen I'm one of the first to die as I'd hate to see the world repopulated by these people.
Though maybe if we can all trick them into thinking the world is going to end, they'll take off hiding in their bunkers and the rest of the world can enjoy some normality.
Sorry, I nearly forgot my mantra that makes everything fine.
'You can not cure stupid'.
I feel better now.

I wouldn't worry but they breed faster than the educated people.
Natural selection has turned right on it's head these last 60 years.
